Scientific Name: Leonurus cardiac
The ancient Greeks used this herb to reduce anxiety during childbirth. Motherworts primarily used as a tea or tincture for its potential medicinal properties. Unlike some other herbs in the mint family, it has an unpleasant smell and bitter flavor.

- Heart health – Excellent remedy for cardiac anxiety. It contains leonurine, a mild vasodilator, which acts as an anti-spasmodic and slows heart palpitations and a rapid heartbeat.
- Helps regulate menstruation, bring on delayed periods and can reduce menstrual cramps by both reducing spasms in the uterus and improving blood flow to the pelvis.
- Helps lower high blood pressure caused by stress or anxiety
- Has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects which help fight bacteria.

Serving Suggestions:
Take 1-2 teaspoons of the herb per cup of boiling water.
Leave infusion of herbs to steep for 10 minutes, then drink the tea, up to 3 times per day
Motherwort can be bitter so sweeten with honey.
Precaution:
Not recommended for people taking anticoagulants – blood thinners, aspirin, garlic, willow bark, vitamin E in supplement form, or people with clotting disorders.
Do not use if pregnant or lactating.
Storage: All dried herbs should be stored in an airtight container out of direct sunlight.
